This was James’ first venture, which started in 1985 from a small broom cupboard; James, aged just 25, spotted a gap in the market and launched a headhunting firm focusing on mid-level search.

The business model focused on identifying niche markets with growth potential; this resulted in partnerships across sectors, the first such model in the UK

The individual businesses benefited from commercial and financial synergies of a shared infrastructure which provided a strategy for growth, and one of the leading training programmes, implanting a culture of success in the employees
